MEIBC mandate required

MEIBC mandate required

Dear Steel Industry employer

The trade union parties to the MEIBC have requested that NEASA should agree to the following demands:

  • sign a new Registration and Administration Levy Agreement which will increase the administration levy payable by employers to R1.96 per employee per week;
  • sign a new  Dispute Levy Agreement which will increase the dispute levy payable by employers to R0.71 per employee per week;
  • sign a new Sick Pay Fund Agreement which will increase the sick pay levy payable by employers by 0.04%.

NEASA has already indicated to the unions that we are of the view that any increases in levies will not be acceptable to our members in the sector under the current conditions, however, we require a mandate from members in this regard.

NEASA is a signatory to the Sick Pay Fund Agreement, which provides additional paid benefits to employees in the event of illness and maternity leave. This agreement expires on 31 December 2021. It is NEASA's view that this agreement should be extended for another five years, however, in light of the current economic climate, without any increases.

In the premise, we request members to provide NEASA with a mandate in respect of these issues. Please click here to provide your mandate.
