EMPI's latest carburetor produces more horsepower and torque than nearest competitor
EMPI, the industry leader in aftermarket performance parts for air-cooled Volkswagens, will introduce a brand-new BGD Series carburetor during the 2021 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nev., for down-draft intakes. The new BGD carburetor—ideal for VW, Harley-Davidson, rotary, and V-8 setups—produces over 5% more torque and more horsepower than the nearest competitor.
SEMA Show attendees can view EMPI's latest BGD carburetor at its booth (#23429) in Central Hall or in the New Product Showcase (booth #31255, Upper South Hall), where it will vie for a SEMA New Product Award.
"EMPI has once again relied on industry-leading innovation and design to produce the best carburetor in the market for air-cooled Volkswagens," said Cory Rider, EMPI’s Director of Marketing. "The 2021 SEMA Show provides the perfect opportunity to introduce our latest product to an industry that is eager to connect in person after two years."
Each new EMPI BGD billet carburetor is made out of a 16-pound block of 6061 T-6 aluminum that is CNC-machined to three possible sizes: 48mm, 52mm, or 58mm. Black-oxide hardware is then used to hand-assemble the carburetor with custom billet venturis, billet velocity stacks, and billet jet deflectors.
A profiled throttle shaft, sealed shaft bearing, and exclusive billet booster helps the carburetor run cleaner at lower RPM and produce more horsepower and torque and higher RPM than the nearest competitor. The BGD carburetor has the same outer dimensions and bolt pattern as the standard Weber IDA or EMPI EPC carburetors that help conceal the 30% oversized float bowls.
"Leading innovation and ingenuity, as well as months of flow bench and Dyno testing, by our R&D team has resulted in EMPI's latest industry-leading carburetor," said Rider. "We invite all SEMA Show attendees to stop by our booth to see the new carburetor and talk to our staff about all EMPI products."
