The Fleet Safety Awards advanced during 2025 by introducing two crucial categories to recognise the intersection of sustainability and road safety. The new Sustainability Leadership and Fleet Sustainability Innovation Awards acknowledged that environmental responsibility and fleet safety are interconnected.

Sustainability Leadership Award
The Sustainability Leadership Award recognised organisations with outstanding commitment to environmental sustainability in fleet operations while maintaining exemplary safety standards.
Runner-up MLM Logistics distinguished themselves as one of South Africa's first logistics operators to pilot the SANY fully electric truck in 2024. Their pilot program achieved 100% reduction in tailpipe emissions, 39% lower operating energy costs, and 25% fewer maintenance interventions. Their ISO-certified approach integrates EV safety training, advanced telematics, and a commitment to reduce fleet carbon intensity by 30% by 2030.
Winner Reef Tankers was recently recognised by CAIA with the 2025 Responsible Care Initiative of the Year Award. Their approach includes Euro 5 vehicles with AdBlue, compressed natural gas-powered vehicles, vapour recovery systems, green tyre programs, and pioneering dual-fuel vehicles. With recyclable water systems, oil separators, and smart telematics across their fleet, they maintain 99% audit scores across ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, RTMS, and SQAS certifications.
Fleet Sustainability Innovation Award
This category recognises organisations that provide innovative products and services enabling other businesses to achieve environmental sustainability goals while enhancing operational efficiency and safety.
Runner-up Predictive Safety Analytics secured recognition with their AlertMeter app, which forecasts risk before shifts begin—preventing incidents rather than reacting to them. Clients see over 50% reduction in fatigue-related incidents and 25% reduction in vehicle accidents. Their predictive technology minimises unplanned shutdowns, reduces resource waste, and supports sustainable workforce management.
Winner Zimi Charge makes electric vehicles accessible for South African fleets through bundled vehicles, charging infrastructure, and software solutions. They enable fleets to reduce carbon emissions by up to 90% while lowering cost per kilometre by up to 30%. Their innovation includes EV pilots across panel van and trucking segments, locally built digital systems, and partnerships accelerating South Africa's transition to zero-emission transport.
