Spain’s automotive supplier industry generated €40.949 billion in turnover in 2025, representing a slight decrease of 0.7% compared to the previous year, amid geopolitical and economic uncertainty, pressure on margins and subdued vehicle production volumes across key automotive markets.
Despite these challenges, Spanish automotive suppliers continued to demonstrate their resilience and industrial strength, supported by innovation, internationalisation and technological development as they respond to the needs of an industry undergoing profound transformation.
Exports reached €24.688 billion in 2025, down 1.5% from the previous year, while remaining at high levels and accounting for more than 60% of total industry turnover. These figures reflect the strong international footprint of Spanish automotive suppliers and their ability to compete in global markets.
From Autoparts From Spain, the platform bringing together leading Spanish manufacturers and exporters of automotive components produced in Spain, these results are seen as further evidence of the competitiveness of Spanish companies in an increasingly demanding global environment.
“Spanish automotive suppliers have once again demonstrated their ability to compete internationally through innovation, quality and technological development. Ours is a strategic industry that contributes around 75% of a vehicle’s value and plays a key role in the competitiveness of the entire automotive value chain. Spanish suppliers combine technology, innovation, highly skilled talent and export capacity, and continue to make significant efforts to adapt to the transformation of mobility while maintaining their competitiveness in international markets,” said Mª Begoña Llamazares, SERNAUTO Market Director and spokesperson for Autoparts From Spain.
Innovation remained one of the sector’s main growth drivers in 2025. Automotive suppliers invested €1.22 billion in Research, Development and Innovation (R&D&I), equivalent to 3% of total turnover and twice the Spanish industrial average. This commitment places the sector among Spain’s leading industrial investors in innovation and contributes to the development of the technologies that will shape the future of mobility.
Companies also maintained their commitment to strengthening industrial capabilities through productive investments worth €1.45 billion in 2025, just 1.1% below the previous year. These investments support process improvements, the incorporation of new technologies and the competitiveness of an industry that continues to adapt to evolving technological and regulatory requirements.
The technological expertise developed by Spanish automotive suppliers is also enabling many companies to expand into areas such as energy, defence, aerospace and advanced mobility, leveraging industrial synergies and creating new growth opportunities.
In terms of employment, the sector supported 325,850 direct and indirect jobs in 2025. Direct employment remained virtually stable at 203,658 employees, representing a slight increase of 0.2% compared to the previous year. These are stable, highly qualified jobs spread across the country, with growing demand for digital, technical and advanced industrial profiles that are essential to support the technological transformation of mobility.
Looking ahead to 2026, the sector’s performance will continue to be influenced by the international economic and geopolitical environment, as well as vehicle production levels in key markets. Nevertheless, Spanish automotive suppliers remain committed to investment, innovation and talent as the foundations for strengthening competitiveness and contributing to the development of safer, more connected and more sustainable mobility.
