FIA European Truck Racing Championship
Successful season opening for Sascha Lenz at the FIA ETRC in Misano
On May 23rd, the FIA European Truck Racing Championship started its 35th season in Misano, Italy. Also present: MAN pilot Sascha Lenz from Team SL Trucksport 30 and his Spanish MAN colleague Antonio Albacete, with whom he is competing together in the team classification under the name "Löwen Power". In the first race on Saturday Lenz finished sixth; in the second race the podium was initially within reach. Technical problems brought him an 8th place in the end. However, a second place in the team classification was a source of joy. For team partner Albacete it went better: he took 2nd place and with the team "Löwen Power" the victory in the team ranking.
The second race day was much more successful despite heavy rain. Lenz finished the first day's race in sixth place. For the team "Löwen Power" there was again a podium place, this time third place. In the final race Lenz quickly took the lead, only had to let the five-time European Champion Jochen Hahn pass and finally finished the race in second place. In the team classification, the two MAN drivers once again made it to second place and thus reached the podium for the fourth time in the fourth race of the season. "That was really a great finish. Saturday was almost desperate," rejoiced Lenz.

Motorsport has a long tradition at MEYLE: whether in truck racing, the drift scene or touring car racing, MEYLE provides support where vehicles and vehicle parts have to withstand the highest loads under maximum performance. MEYLE has been involved in the FIA European Truck Racing Championship since 2014 and is supporting MAN racing driver Sascha Lenz and his team this season. This year MEYLE is also the official sponsor of Team T3 Motorsport around the two young drivers Maximilian Paul and Simon Reicher in the ADAC GT Masters, 24H Series and NES 500 series. In addition to these commitments MEYLE is also the main sponsor of the popular German drift series DRIFT UNITED in 2019.
All MEYLE motorsport cooperations focus on the transfer of know-how. The performance analysis of the car parts under extreme conditions provides the Hamburg-based manufacturer with valuable insights for the further development of its products. In return, MEYLE engineers are available to support the teams as technical partners during the race weekend and in the workshop. "At MEYLE, we take the importance of technical cooperation literally. We don't want to be a financier, but to ensure that our customers can supply their customers with better parts. For this reason, we are involved in a wide variety of racing series in order to be able to cover the entire bandwidth of the necessary data: in sprints, on long distances, in drifts and also in truck racing," says Marc Erdmann, engineer from the chassis and steering division at MEYLE.
