iCAUR V27 brings electric efficiency and long-range flexibility to modern SUV drivers

Built on the brand’s Golden REEV platform, the SUV offers up to 150 km of electric-only range and more than 1,000 km of combined driving range for cost-conscious consumers.

  • The iCAUR V27 uses Golden REEV technology to deliver an electric-first driving experience with lower fuel consumption and reduced operating costs.
  • A 34.3 kWh battery provides up to 150 km of electric-only range, while the full system extends total range to more than 1,000 km.
  • With intelligent energy management and 6 kW V2L capability, the V27 is designed for both everyday practicality and longer-distance flexibility.

Amid ongoing volatility in global energy markets and rising fuel prices, consumers are increasingly seeking mobility solutions that balance cost efficiency with flexibility and real-world practicality. This shift is accelerating demand for new energy vehicles that can adapt to diverse driving needs without compromising convenience or performance.

iCAUR is responding to this transition with a broader vision for mobility, one that treats energy not simply as a power source, but rather as an integrated system shaping how vehicles perform in everyday life. At the centre of this approach is the iCAUR V27, an SUV built on the brand’s advanced Golden REEV (Range-Extended Electric Vehicle) architecture.

Designed to address both daily commuting and long-distance travel, the V27 delivers a balance of electric efficiency and extended range, reducing dependence on charging infrastructure while maintaining a refined, electric-first driving experience.

High-efficiency powertrain for lower operating costs

The Golden REEV system represents a significant advancement over traditional range-extender technologies. It integrates a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine (with a thermal efficiency of 45.79%), converting each litre of fuel into 3.71 kWh of electricity. This high conversion efficiency enables lower fuel consumption, reducing overall operating costs - particularly on longer journeys.

The system operates with dual electric motors, with the combustion engine functioning solely as a generator when battery levels are low. This ensures the powertrain consistently runs within its most efficient range. Combined with a noise level below 61 dB and a 106 kg reduction in vehicle weight, the V27 delivers a refined, near-silent driving experience comparable to a pure electric vehicle.

Intelligent energy management and optimised efficiency

The V27 further enhances efficiency through an optimised electric drive system. In the all-wheel drive configuration, the vehicle primarily operates in rear-wheel drive, activating the front motor only when additional traction is required. This approach reduces energy consumption by approximately 5% compared to conventional all-wheel drive systems.

A highly integrated 10-in-1 electric drive unit contributes to additional gains, reducing system size by 27% and weight by 21%, while increasing power density by 37%. These improvements minimise energy loss and enhance overall system performance.

Flexible energy use in daily and long-distance driving

Equipped with a 34.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery supplied by CATL, the V27 offers an electric-only range of up to 150 km, making it well-suited for daily urban commuting with minimal or no fuel consumption. For longer journeys, the combined system delivers a total range exceeding 1,000 km, allowing drivers to refuel quickly and continue without reliance on charging infrastructure.

This dual-energy capability provides users with flexibility in response to fluctuating fuel prices and varying infrastructure conditions, supporting a wide range of use cases from city driving to extended travel.

“As part of iCAUR’s future vision for South Africa, the V27 will expand the conversation around new energy mobility by offering a solution that is practical, flexible and suited to everyday driving conditions,” commented Shannon Gahagan, Head of Brand and Marketing for iCAUR South Africa and OMODA & JAECOO South Africa. “It brings together electric efficiency, long-range capability and convenience in a way that speaks directly to local consumer needs.”

Expanding the role of energy in mobility

Beyond propulsion, the V27 extends the role of energy into real-world functionality. With vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability delivering up to 6 kW of external power, the vehicle can support outdoor activities, temporary workspaces, and other scenarios where access to electricity is limited.

The V27 forms part of iCAUR’s evolving product ecosystem, which integrates design, technology, and real-world usability into a unified mobility framework. Alongside models such as the V23, the brand is building a portfolio of vehicles that address both urban adaptability and extended capability, while maintaining a consistent focus on efficiency and user experience.

Looking ahead

iCAUR will present the V27 and its broader product strategy at the 2026 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition and the iCAUR International User Summit. As the mobility landscape continues to evolve, iCAUR’s Golden REEV technology positions the V27 as a practical and cost-effective solution for consumers navigating rising energy costs and changing transportation needs.
