Lewis Hamilton returns to Silverstone this weekend chasing what would be one of the most memorable victories of his exceptional Formula One career.

The seven-time world champion has already rewritten the record books at the British Grand Prix with an unprecedented nine victories at the Northamptonshire circuit – more wins than any driver at a single GP or circuit in F1 history. Now, in Ferrari red, he has the opportunity to add to this impressive tally.

Silverstone has long been a Hamilton favourite: He also holds the record for seven pole positions at the British GP, underlining his exceptional one-lap speed. Equally impressive is his consistency: Hamilton has stood on the Silverstone podium 15 times, a testament to his ability to deliver in front of his home crowd.

The challenge this year is arguably greater than ever. Ferrari has shown flashes of race-winning pace during the 2026 season, including Hamilton's breakthrough victory for the Scuderia in Barcelona, but the team also endured a difficult Austrian GP last weekend.

Nevertheless, few drivers draw as much inspiration from a circuit as Hamilton does from Silverstone. The fast, flowing sequence through Maggotts, Becketts and Chapel has consistently suited his driving style, while the passionate "Hamilton Straight" grandstands provide a motivating atmosphere for Hamilton who, in 2017 said he credits the crowd with “maybe a half a second”, after taking pole position.

A tenth British GP victory would not only extend one of the sport's most remarkable records, but would also mark Hamilton's first home triumph for Ferrari - a result that would rank among the defining moments of his legendary career.
