With the chaos of the Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang barely behind them, Formula One teams now make the short hop to Singapore for one of the most physically demanding weekends of the season.

The Marina Bay Street Circuit’s 4.94km lap, lined by walls and punctuated by 19 corners, leaves little room for error.

The night-race format helps reduce the worst of the daytime heat, but it does little to eliminate Singapore’s notorious humidity. Drivers can lose several kilograms through perspiration during the GP. Moreover, the constant challenges of this demanding circuit make it a serious test of concentration, physical and mechanical endurance.

This year brings an additional complication: Singapore hosts its first-ever F1 Sprint. It’s the final Sprint weekend of the 2026 season.

With only one practice session before Sprint Qualifying on Friday, teams have precious little time to find the optimum set-up. Saturday then delivers the Sprint before qualifying for Sunday’s GP.

After Sepang’s weather-induced mayhem, expect another weekend where strategy, tyre management and energy deployment could prove decisive. At Marina Bay, the unexpected is almost guaranteed.
